Dear Friends, Brothers & Sisters in Jesus,
Once again we are organising a Life in the Spirit Seminar for you. As this year is the Year of the Great Jubilee, the Holy Father, Pope John Paul II emphasizes "One Thing is certain: everyone is asked to do as much as possible to ensure the great challenge of the year 2000 is not overlooked, for this challenge certainly involves a special grace of the Lord for the Church and for the whole of humanity".
The Jubilee celebration was first recorded in Leviticus 25:10-21 during the time of Moses where God promises Israel a time of liberty, restoration and a time of great blessing.
The Holy Father, Pope John Paul II in his letter announcing the Great Jubilee of the year 2000, emphasizes that the history of the Church, the "old" and the "new" are closely interwoven. The "new" grows out of the "old and the "old" finds fuller expression in the "new". His message is that Christians allow themselves to be taught by the Holy Spirit, the Great Jubilee will reveal a new springtime of Christian life. The old is the shadow and the new is the substance and what is concealed in the old is revealed in the new. The Sanctification of Time helps us to understand the custom of Jubilee.
In the synagogue at Nazareth, Jesus read from Isaiah, "The Spirit of The Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good tidings to the afflicted; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour. (Luke4:16-30) Jesus was proclaiming that the day of salvation had come, the "fullness of time". All Jubilees point to this Time and refer to the Messianic Mission of Christ.
If God can bless Israel tremendously under the law, how much more would He bless us under the Grace of Jesus Christ.
Let us capture this time of Grace especially during this Great Jubilee Year. Israel began their Jubilee on the day of Atonement on the 49th Year in recognition of their sins. Let us begin this Great Jubilee celebration through repentance and a personal encounter with the Lord Jesus through this Life in the Spirit Seminar. As this year is the year of the Lord's favour, let us not miss the Grace. Do not miss this opportunity !!
